Range of gross monthly pay

How is this range calculated?

We use the official CBS table “Employees; hourly wage and occupation”. For each occupation it gives the gross hourly wage below which 25%, 50% (the median) and 75% of employees fall.

CBS divides pay by the hours someone actually works: holidays, public holidays and ADV (reduced working time) hours do not count as hours, even though they are paid. Holiday allowance, a 13th month, bonuses and overtime are not included in the hourly wage. So we convert to a monthly wage as follows: hourly wage × hours per week × weeks worked ÷ 12. Weeks worked = 52 minus (holiday days + 6 public holidays) ÷ 5. With 25 holiday days that is 45.8 weeks a year. The result is the regular gross monthly wage without holiday allowance; with 8% holiday allowance it is on average 8% more per month.

In education the holidays are longer: a full-time primary school teacher works 1,659 hours a year. That corresponds to about 36 hours a week and 25 holiday days in this calculator.

The 2025 figures are provisional; CBS will publish the final figures in November 2026. For 12 occupations there are no 2025 figures yet. For those we use 2024, indexed with the Eurostat labour cost index (factor 1.0595). That follows average wage growth, not growth in the occupation itself.

CBS does not break this table down by age or work experience. The range therefore covers all employees aged 15 to 75 in that occupation, including young and part-time workers. As a result, in occupations with many young workers the 25th percentile can be below the minimum wage for those aged 21 and over.

Note: indicative, not advice

This calculation is an indication based on general statutory rules and 2026 rates and is not tax, legal or pay advice. This is not pay advice. The collective agreement, job content, region and company size make a big difference; the figures cover all employers together. No rights can be derived from this result.
